***** The Sportsman's Dinners recent History*****
1st one held in 2008 guest speakers Murdo MacLeod and Donald Findlay. Charity was The Day Medical Unit McQuaker Building at the Victoria Infirmary.
2nd one held in 2009 guest speakers Brian McGinley and John Gahagan. Charity was Alzheimer's Scotland and Eastwood Dementia Centre.
3rd one held in 2010 guest speakers Alan Rough and Frank McAvennie. Charity was The Prince and Princess Wales Hospice.
4th one held in 2011 guest speakers Kenny Clark and Chick Young. Charity was The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.
5th one held in 2012 guest speakers John Brown, Alan Rough and Mark Hately. Charity was Epilepsy Scotland.
6th one held in 2013 guest speakers Andy Goram and Craig Brown. Charities were MS Society Scotland and The Beatson Cancer Centre.
7th one held in 2014 guest speakers Willie Young and Bill Copeland. Charity was The Isobel Mair School, now in Newton Mearns.
8th one held in 2015 guest speakers Jimmy Nicholl and Sheriff Lindsay Wood. Charities were the Williams Syndrome Foundation UK and Alzheimer’s Scotland.
9th one held in 2016 guest speakers Paul Reid and Stewart Smith. Charities were the Williams Syndrome Foundation UK and The Friends of Williamwood House. £2,880 was raised for the charities on the evening and everyone involved must be congratulated in raising this magnificent sum.
10th one held in 2017 guest speakers Willie Henderson and John Rowbottom. Charity was the Beatson Cancer Charity. £2,980 was raised on the evening and everyone involved must be congratulated in raising this magnificent sum.
11th On 27th April 2018 we had guest speakers Gordon Smith and Tam Cowan at our Annual Sportsman's Dinner. Charity for the evening was MND Scotland. An outstanding amount of £7,600 was raised on the evening and everyone involved in the organisation and running of the event must be congratulated for raising this magnificent sum of money. All those in attendance must be thanked for their generosity in donating raffle and auction prizes and for purchasing raffle tickets and bidding for auction lots. It was a superb evening all round and exceeded all expectations. Thank you.
Total amount to charity over the 11 dinners approximately £37,000.
